Traditional Irish Christmas Ornaments for the Tree
What type of decoration could really be much luckier for the festive Holidays than some rather traditional Irish Christmas ornaments to grace your tree?
Irish ornaments can also be used to put out on display for occasions such as St. Patrick’s Day. Since you can now get special ornament stands, the tree itself is no longer strictly necessary for these types of decorations.
There are certainly some really gorgeous looking designs with traditional motifs, symbols and decorative elements that many people would associate with Ireland.

Shamrocks are symbols heavily associated with Ireland. I like this option of a shamrock design photo ornament that allows space to pop in a photo of someone.
Perhaps add in a photo of yourself, someone who lives far away or even someone who has passed away. It makes for a lovely looking memento and keepsake to cherish. It comes packaged in a box along with a blessing.
Peggy Karr makes a lot of art glass and you may still be lucky to find a very pretty ornament of hers that is decorated with an all-over shamrock leaf design in different shades of green. You may find it still on an auction site such as eBay.
Waterford Crystal Shamrocks Make Very Traditional Irish Ornaments for Christmas
Waterford Crystal are renowned for their beautiful crystal ornaments and decorative items for the home. They make many shamrock designs that they release each year as collectible ornaments and paperweights.
Some of their past designs are really delightful and one of my favorites, which you can still get hold of, is a sparkling green Shamrock hanging ornament which is a really vibrant Emerald color.
The green on these is such a beautiful reminder of Ireland which is also known very fondly as the Emerald Isle.
These hanging decorations are beautifully themed designs which you will most surely want to bring out for the festive season every year where they will take pride of place among your Holiday decor.
About the Shamrock Plant Motif for Decorative Ornaments
Hand-Painted Glass Bulb Shamrock Ornament by BarbarasOrnaments at Etsy
The shamrock plant with its three leafed design is used to represent the Holy Trinity and is a symbol long associated with Ireland and also St. Patrick’s Day.
It is believed that Saint Patrick used the plant to demonstrate the idea of The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost or Spirit. The shamrock plant is an ideal color design for Christmas celebrations and should look wonderful decorating the tree.
Irish Dancer Ornament for Your Holiday Tree
Get this Irish Dancer Christmas Tree Ornament from Amazon.com
This is another one of my favorite picks to add to your Christmas decor this year. I love the look of this happy and smiling Irish dancing girl dressed in a traditional dance costume while she is doing a Jig.
These dancers are amazing to watch in real life and it is incredible to see how fast their dancing feet fly across the floor while they traditionally keep their arms down still by their sides.
Of course greens work particularly well with a traditional Christmas theme too. Classic motifs and designs to look for include: shamrocks, Angels, prayers, claddagh and Celtic designs.
Clovers are also lucky symbols associated mainly with this green country – so long as you are aware that there is a difference because shamrocks only have 3 leaves while lucky clovers need 4.
Claddagh, Friendship, Love and Loyalty Irish Christmas Ornaments
I think this one would make a beautiful and thoughtful gift for a special friend or member of your family.
It features the traditional Irish symbol of the Claddagh with the hands that symbolize friendship and togetherness, a heart that symbolizes love and the royal crown emblem that stands for loyalty.
Like the shamrock plant, the claddagh has three meanings in one single design. It is a Christmas ornament which has a faux wood look and is lavishly decorated with gold color detailing on the crown and around the arms of the hands with Celtic knot work designs.
About the Celtic Harp Symbol Design: Most people associate the shamrock with Ireland and it has become a much loved symbol. But the Celtic harp is actually the official emblem for this country. The harp has been used for hundreds of years as an aid to storytelling in Ireland and harpists were once held in very high esteem.
Harpists would entertain kings and royalty with their music. Even though invaders tried to banish harps from Ireland way back in history, they did not manage to prevail and the harp is still honored as being the national emblem of this country.
Shamrocks are worked into a tiara around the Angel’s head and, as well as decorating her dress, she is holding a bouquet made up from the shamrock plant. This Angel must be one of good luck and fortune. It is the most delightful piece and the most attention has been lavished onto her face which holds a very serene expression.
Her beautiful, curly hair is framing her face and the top of her Angel wings. You may still be lucky to find the Jim Shore Irish angel on eBay or similar.

The sentiment on this engraved wooded Claddagh heart is very touching. It reads: family, friends, blessings forever. This makes for a very unique looking tree ornament to hang up or gift to someone else.
Many of these are quite elaborate little figurines on ribbon which come made in glittering emeralds and greens to celebrate one of the main colors from this country’s national flag. Good luck selecting your final item.
Irish Santa Ornament: Jim Shore Irish Collectibles for the Christmas Tree
Buy this Jim Shore Irish Santa Ornament from Amazon.com
He looks like such a wonderful Santa to add to your Christmas tree decorations. How charming I feel this detailed and hand-painted piece is.
So much thought has been given to this Father Christmas design who has lots of special symbols over him with the intricate Celtic knots, shamrocks on his bag and even a harp design for his belt buckle.
Jim Shore is well known for designing lavish and intricate figurines and sculptures and this is a favorite one of mine. This is a small and lavishly detailed looking Irish Santa ornament which must surely take pride of place on your Christmas tree.
The Celtic inspired Irish Santa is worked in shades of green and red which means it will match in beautifully with traditional tree colors. It is highly decorative from the knot work design along the bottom of his skirt to the harp symbol on his belt and him with his pipe.
Santa looks relaxed and happy as he puffs on his pipe. He is dressed delightfully in the traditional colors of the season with deep reds and festive greens. The green holly and red berries on his hat give a wonderful seasonal touch too. Make sure you put out some treats for him on Christmas Eve!
Also look out for a Jim Shore Irish angel design. Jim also has a hand-painted angel design which is decorated delightfully in greens and rustic oranges which are colors from this country’s official flag.
You can see how much thought and attention to detail has been delivered with the Angel ornament, not pictured, who features a pretty Ireland country scene on the front of her dress and favorite symbols such as shamrocks and Celtic knot designs.
